Touch ID & Biometrics Setup

Mac Guard uses Apple’s official LocalAuthentication framework. On MacBooks with Touch ID or Magic Keyboards with Touch ID, authentication prompts will naturally accept your fingerprint. If biometrics are not configured or closed in clamshell mode, macOS automatically falls back to your Mac user password.

Tip: You can adjust the re-authentication grace period under Settings > Security in the Mac Guard app.

Full Disk Access Permission

For standard user cache and log cleaning (~/Library/Caches), Mac Guard does not require elevated permissions. If you wish to scan deep temporary items or protected application containers, grant Full Disk Access under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.

Graceful Fallback: If Full Disk Access is not granted, Mac Guard continues working safely on accessible user folders.
