Our Core Privacy Principle
Mac Guard is designed from the ground up as a local-first native utility. We believe your personal computer and your installed applications are entirely your business. We do not inspect your personal files, we do not log keystrokes, and we never collect telemetry on which applications you lock or how often you open them.
1. Biometric Data & Passwords
Mac Guard never accesses, receives, or stores your Mac password, Touch ID biometric prints, or Apple Watch authentication tokens. All authentication challenges are executed exclusively by Apple’s native LocalAuthentication framework on the hardware Secure Enclave. Mac Guard only receives a binary boolean result (success or cancelled).
2. Disk Cleaning & File Safety
Disk scanning happens completely on your machine using standard POSIX and Foundation APIs. No file paths, file contents, or personal filenames are ever uploaded to any server. When you confirm file deletion, files are moved directly to your macOS Trash or purged locally.
3. Account & License Data
When you purchase a Lifetime License or activate Mac Guard, we record your email address, customer account, license key, and an anonymous hardware identifier (UUID) solely to ensure that the 3-device limit is respected and to allow you to remotely deactivate Macs from your web dashboard.
4. Keychain Storage
Sensitive activation tokens and device identities are stored using the macOS Keychain Services API with kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlock, ensuring hardware-backed encryption provided by Apple.
